Devotionals.

So today's topic is a bit straight forward..... First of all YAY for second post of the year!!!! :)

Second, do you have a devotional everyday?  You may be asking: What is a devotional?

Here is a small description.

Daily devotionals are publications which provide a specific spiritual reading for each calendar day. They tend to be associated with a daily time of prayer and meditation.

Most people will take about an hour for a devotion as they will look up other scriptures pertaining to the subject at hand.

For my own personal devotional I generally take about 10-15 minutes before work to read one off of an app I have on my phone called Daily Devotionals (for android phones).

Today's devotional was about acting upbeat when you are feeling down. The scriptures that went along with this particular subject were Proverbs 17:22, Philippians 4:8, Psalm 18:2. This particular devotional kind of hit me hard today as this past Friday on Valentines day, I had what I call a "blah" day. I had been happy the whole week Monday - Thursday and then all of a sudden BAM Friday came along and seemed to suck all my energy. I wasn't sure what the deal was but man I just didn't have the spunk I had earlier in the week.

Most of that day I went through the motions not being rude or negative at all but people could sense that something was off. I was asked multiple times if something was wrong, but really nothing was, all I could do was smile and say no. Finally after dealing with half the day of people wondering what was wrong and giving me weird looks, lol, I decided to pray.

"Lord please help me. For some reason I just can't seem to get myself out of this bad mood/feeling/emotion right now. I need to be lifted up. I need to be happy, as happy as I have been in the beginning of the week. Amen"

Shortly after praying the mood seemed to lighten just a bit. Enough that I could smile and help myself get through the rest of the day which I'm sure helped others as well.

So why am I telling you all this? Well there are several. First devotionals are a great way of connecting to god. Second they are fantastic lessons. As most devotionals (at least the ones I have run across) have short personal stories depicting how particular scriptures worked or helped for them. Third is to let you know that no matter what you are feeling you have the power to make sure no one else is feeling that way. When I was in what we will call a grump mood everyone felt it and it affected them in some way or another. If you frown you make others frown and when you smile you make others smile.

So lets make someone smile today. :)

Works of the heart

So many things I want to start. I get the idea in my head and in my heart. Although I really want to do something I put it off. Why? Why do I do that? Am I afraid of failure? Am I afraid that I might actually be happy? Am I just lazy? I think its all of those things.
I want to write a book but every time i start and seem to get a couple chapters done, i just think to myself "who is going to read this crap?" Even if I feel like its a great read already.
I wanted to start a Twins Group for the Tehama County area. But the work that goes into creating and maintaining something like that, well it takes a lot of time and thats something i feel i don't have.
(excuse any bad grammar, some of this is just ranting)
I want to be an amazing Christian and I want to be an awesome role model. But then again I don't want people looking at me and disecting my every move. I don't think i really want that type of pressure.
But back to the book. :) I have started writing one. Although i may end up scraping and starting over. May be someday i will share my book with you all.

Sorry this was all over the place. I promise with practice they will get better
